Philly five piece Oldermost recently released their debut album, I Live Here Now, with Jonathan Low from Miner Street Recordings (Daniel Rossen, Sharon Van Etten, The War on Drugs, The National). The LP is not necessarily a love letter to their city of residence but definitely an honest documentation of the human condition and a coming of age. The local rockers' sound is capacious and the band has a knack for invoking nostalgia with carefully crafted traditional Americana style lyrics, paired with limpid melodies and earthy guitar tones.

The album is brimming with wide eyed enthusiasm, vibrant harmonies and an excess of ambition. It embraces a wide gambit of emotions while trying to connect with a "lost" generation steeped in blurred social statuses, searching for meaning. Some of the tracks are slow winding ballads (When I Know) while others start as fragile psalms only to end in howling vocals and shredding guitars (To Seed). Oldermost's freshman effort is definitely and ear catcher and now that the band has our attention it will be interesting to see what they do with it.
