Folk the park is an annual celebration of music out on the island of Long's Park that has been happening for the past seven years. The festival flyer said bring some grub and friends, so I brought my camera and steaks for grilling-excited for an afternoon of alt folk. I was invited to the event by KV Merica, a member of the Comrades, who is instrumental in the planning and running of the event every year. Lancaster is not the first locale that comes to mind as a place that would boast such an array of musical talent and diverse culture, I experienced my first show where a musical saw played, all the while surrounded by the banjos and accordions of musicians waiting for their sets. There were more than twenty acts playing late into the night, some traveling from New York just to be a part of the experience. If you have the chance next year to catch Folk the Park do yourself a favor and bring some food, friends and be ready for a good time.
